Shillong, June 21: The Rynjah police on Friday arrested few of the accused, who had allegedly broken into three PHE pump houses at Umpling recently.
The arrest was made with the joint efforts of the Umpling Dorbar Shnong and the Seng Samla.
Umpling Dorbar Shnong secretary, Louis Jyrwa, informed that they managed to identify the accused  with the help of one of the accomplices, who is the youth from the locality.
According to him, the police arrested the accused who stole the cable wires and other equipment from the pump houses and also those who purchased the same.
He said that the police are still on the job to nab the other accused who are involved in the crime, adding that both the PHE and the Dorbar Shnong have filed an FIR on this theft case.
Jyrwa also urged the residents to remain wary of the drug abusers.
Confirming the involvement of the drug abusers in the theft case, Jyrwa said, “The localities are no longer safe due to the rise of the drug problem.”
