SHILLONG, June 25: The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) is deliberating over 10 potential candidates for the upcoming Gambegre bypoll, with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s wife, Mehtab Chandee, his sister, Agatha Sangma, and his brother James Sangma and his wife among the top contenders.
A senior NPP leader, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that ten names have been shortlisted, with Mehtab and Agatha receiving strong support from party workers. Other notable names on the list include Linekar K Sangma, MDC, Rakesh Sangma, the NPP’s 2023 candidate from Gambegre, Ambrose Ch. Marak, and Nehru Sangma.
