Dr. Sashi Teibor Laloo has been awarded a PhD degree from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) for his thesis ‘Drawing Borders and the making of Khasi Jaintia identity (1772-1972)’, which he completed under the supervision of Dr B Dutta, Department of History, NEHU. He is the son of AS War and Dr AR Laloo.

The Shillong Times first appeared as a tabloid weekly on 10th August 1945 under the editorship of Late Sudhindra Bhusan Chaudhuri. In 1958 it was converted to a Daily. Owing to financial constraints, within six months it reverted back to a weekly.
