SHILLONG, June 28: The Umlyngka Presbyterian Church has begun preparations to host the annual Church meeting of the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod Pdeng, which is slated for next year.
In the run-up to the meeting, church elders, along with Pastor in-charge Rev. CN Kharbuki, former MLA Hamletson Dohling, and an official from the Public Works Department (PWD), inspected on Friday the venue at Umlyngka-Mawsyiem where the meeting is planned to be held.
During the inspection, Dohling informed that Rs 5.40 crore has been sanctioned for constructing the road that will lead to the venue of the meeting, and that the work will begin once the weather permits.
Expressing hope that the project will be completed within the given deadline, Dohling said he would personally request both the PWD engineer and the contractor to start the work as soon as possible.
