Scooterist faints after hitting pole on NH-6; shifted to city hospital

NONGPOH, June 30: A scooterist was found lying in an unconscious state on National Highway-6 on Sunday morning fuelling speculations about a possible tragedy that could have occurred at Umsning, Ri-Bhoi.
Police were informed about the incident around 10:40 am. Upon arrival, they found a scooty bearing registration number ML 05Z 7656 badly damaged.
After preliminary inquiry, it was learnt that the rider, identified as Hilarious Syiem (44) hailing from Mawiong Tariang B, East Khasi Hills, lost control of his scooty and hit a concrete pole while traveling from Nongpoh to Shillong.
The injured rider was immediately shifted to Umsning CHC by an ambulance for medical examination, and the scooty was towed to Umsning Police Station for safekeeping. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, Syiem was later transferred to a hospital in Shillong for better treatment, assisted by his family members.
