Behdeinkhlam celebrations enter third day with pomp

JOWAI, July 2: The third day of the Behdeinkhlam festivities in Jaintia Hills went on with traditional pomp. The festival on Tuesday saw the ‘Ki Khon ka Raij’ of Sein Raij Jowai from various localities coming out in traditional attire, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of drums and piping, to carry the ‘Deinkhlam’ from Iawmusiang Jowai and the ‘Khnong Blai’ to their respective localities.
In a lively procession filled with dancing and music, the ‘Khon ka Sein Raij’ first brought their Deinkhlam to Pohsawiar. The event was also attended by P Kynjing, the Doloi of Jowai, along with other members of the Sein Raij Jowai. They officially handed over the ‘Klong Blai’ to the Kni of Nikhla, marking a significant moment in the festival’s celebrations.
