Decomposed body recovered in Ri-Bhoi

NONGPOH, July 3: Ri-Bhoi Police on Wednesday recovered an unidentified decomposed body of a man from an abandoned house near the NRL Petrol Pump at 10th Mile under Khanapara Police Station.
The body, believed to be that of an elderly male, was found lying on the floor of the deserted building. Initial investigations revealed that the body had been in a state of decomposition for an undetermined period.
Police conducted an inquest at the scene in the presence of independent witnesses. Photographs of the deceased and the location were also taken for documentation.
Despite efforts to identify the body by showing photographs to nearby villagers and residents in the vicinity of 10th Mile, no one has come forward with any information.
After completing all necessary legal formalities, the body was transported to the Nongpoh Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
