SHILLONG, July 5: After much delay, the Hima Mawphlang on Friday handed over a no objection certificate to the PHE Department for construction work pertaining to the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme Phase-III.
The NOC came after three years of dialogue between the department and the Hima.
Chief Secretary DP Wahlang, in a post on X, said the move will make way for the new treatment plant and the repair work of the dam.
The PHE Department was facing problems to construct the pumping station due to objection by the Hima Mawphlang who have been demanding a sizeable number of jobs for residents against the land they donated for the project.
