SHILLONG, July 5: Tura Lok Sabha member and former Gambegre MLA, Saleng A Sangma on Friday asserted that he wants the best leader to look after his people in the Gambegre constituency.
On fielding the Congress candidate in the bye-election from Gambegre, Sangma said he will hold discussions on the matter with his people and his leaders in the constituency.
“I want the best leader to look after the people,” he said.
Asked about the NPP’s move to field Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s wife Mehtab Chandee in the bye-elections, the Tura MP said people will decide whom to elect. He said he is confident that no one can replace him in the constituency.
“I still look after my people in Gambegre. They love me and will continue to do so,” he said.
The notification for the bye-election is yet to be issued but the major political parties have already started their preparations.
