NCC’s pre Subroto football cup final concludes at Tura

Tura, July 9: The final match of the Pre Subroto Football Cup for Under-17 Girls was held at P.A. Sangma Stadium, Dakopgre, Tura, where the Silchar NCC Group emerged as winners by defeating the Guwahati NCC Group with a score of 5-0.
The tournament was organised for the North-East Region by the 41 Meghalaya Battalion NCC, Shillong, under the aegis of NCC Group, Shillong.
Major General Gagan Deep, Additional Director General, National Cadet Corps, North Eastern Region, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Brigadier V Mahadik, Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills Jagdish Chelani, and other officials were also present at the event.
It may be mentioned that the tournament started on July 2, 2024, and concluded on Wednesday with the final match.
Altogether, eight NCC teams from different states of the North-East, such as Silchar, Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Kohima, Shillong, Jorhat, and ADG 11 (represented by the 62 NCC Battalion, Silchar), participated in the tournament.
The tournament aims to identify the best team, which will then represent the NCC North East Region at the prestigious Subroto Cup tournament to be held in New Delhi.
Later, the Chief Guest distributed the medals and trophies to the winners, including individual winners.
B. Lalmingthangi from Silchar Group received the Best Player Award, Nazareen Nongdhar from Shillong Group bagged the Highest Scorer Award, while Oyit Pabin from Dibrugarh Group received the Best Goalkeeper Award.
A spectacular band display was also performed at the event by St. John’s Higher Secondary School, Chibragre, West Garo Hills, along with other cultural shows during the program.
