New inspector general of BSF Guwahati Frontier

Guwahati, July 10: Makrand Deouskar, an IPS officer of 1997 batch from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has taken over charge as the inspector general (IG) of BSF Guwahati Frontier, an official statement issued here on Wednesday said.

Deouskar possesses vast experience of policing, having served as superintendent of police in various districts of Madhya Pradesh, DIG Jabalpur range, DIG intelligence, IG intelligence, IG Hoshangabad zone, IG (CID) and OSD to the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.

He also has the distinction of being the first police commissioner of Bhopal after introduction of the Commissionerate system in Madhya Pradesh.

Notably, Deouskar has been conferred with a police medal for meritorious service in the year 2013. He joined BSF on deputation in February 2024 and after commanding Rajasthan Frontier of Border Security Force, he joined BSF Guwahati Frontier.

After assuming the charge as the IG of BSF Guwahati, Deouskar stressed upon effective border management to prevent crimes along the India-Bangladesh international border and the need to promote a sense of security among the people living in the bordering area.

He also emphasised on maintaining the existing cordial relationship between the border guarding forces of the two neighbouring countries.
