TURA, July 10: The All Meghalaya RMSA Teachers’ Association has moved Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma with a slew of demands to address their issues.
The association urged the minister to frame the salary structure of RMSA teachers at least up to the basic pay scale for both secondary and higher secondary teachers. According to the association, teachers under the category at present do not have a defined salary framework.
It also sought the creation of posts for the non-teaching staff.
Pointing out that it is the non-teaching staff that provides a learning environment for the institution to function smoothly, the teachers sought the creation of sanctioned posts for all RMSA schools in the state.
The association also sought that teachers, under their category, also be covered under the Meghalaya Medical Attendance Rules, 1981. Pointing out that the teachers, at present, are only drawing monthly salaries without any other allowances and benefits, the teachers sought that they too be covered under the same rules to prevent any difficulties during medical emergencies.
Another demand made by the teachers is their inclusion for payment of post-retirement benefits.
The association sought that they too have access for payment under Gratuity (Meghalaya) Rules 1977 and NPS Subscription or any other provident fund for secured retirement.
