KHADC delimitation exercise
SHILLONG, July 11: The KHADC Delimitation Committee has made several recommendations for inclusion and deletion of villages in most of the constituencies as per the delimitation exercise to readjust the voters in the existing 29 constituencies of the council.
The KHADC Executive Committee tabled the KHADC (Constitution of District Council) (Amendment) Rules, 2024 on the first day of the council’s summer session on Wednesday.
The bill was later referred to the Select Committee as per the suggestion made by a majority of the MDCs from both the ruling and opposition benches.
As per the amendment rules, certain areas under Mawlai constituency which has the highest number of voters have been added to Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah and Jaiaw constituencies.
The delimitation committee recommended the deletion of the whole of Mawlai Mawroh village from Mawlai constituency and added the same to Jaiaw constituency.
Further, the committee suggested the deletion of Mawpat village under Mawlai and recommended the same to be added to Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah constituency.
Madanrting village which falls under Nongthymmai constituency will now be a part of Nongkrem constituency. Madanrting falls under Nongkrem Assembly constituency.
Areas like Cleve Colony, Risa Colony, and Tripura Castle which fall under Nongthymmai constituency will now be added to Laitumkhrah-Malki constituency.
Further, the areas of Lumdorbar, Lumsohphoh, Mynsain, and Kynjatphutbol villages under Laitumkhrah-Malki Constituency will be added to Laban-Mawprem constituency as per the recommendation of the delimitation committee.
Lumshngain village which is under Laitumkhrah-Malki constituency will now be a part of Nongthymmai Constituency.
Meanwhile, the committee recommended the deletion of Paham Sohbar village under Nongpoh constituency and added the same to Jirang.
At the same time, it recommended the deletion of Lapalang and Nongrah villages under Sohryngkham constituency and added the same to Nongthymmai constituency.
Further, the committee recommended deletion of Raibah, Tlongpleng, Mawpait-Tlongpleng, Nongthymmai Raidewsaw, Mawlongroh, Domshken Rum, Domshken, and Mawshaliah villages under Mawsynram constituency and added the same to Langrin constituency.
It suggested deletion of Nongrim Sadew, Umthlong, Mawkalum, Mawkriah West, Lumsohriew, Ladmawreng, Mawreng, Lyngkhwir, and Mawreng Mihngi villages under Mylliem constituency and added the same to Mawphlang-Diengiei constituency.
The deletion of Umsawli, Lyngkien, and Mawsier villages under Laitumkhrah-Malki constituency and their addition to Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah constituency was also recommended.
In addition, Laitniangtlong, Wahrisain, Laitmawsiang, and Nongriwah villages under Nongspung-Sohiong constituency will now be included under Mawphlang- Diengiei constituency while Bangla Sohphie village under Mairang-Nongkhlaw constituency will now be a part of Nongspung-Sohiong constituency.
The villages of Kseh Kohlong, Maragor, Laitkseh, Upper Laitkseh, Langlew, Mawkhan Pambeh, Mawkhan Wahkwang, Phyllut, Mawblei-Mawjnoin, Law Namlang, and Nongdom Laitmilang under Pariong-Mawthadraishan constituency will now be under Nongstoin constituency.
Nongriat, Nginiong, and Mawlum Nginiong villages under Pariong-Mawthadraishan constituency have been included under Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency.
Mawkohmoh village under Nongstoin constituency will now be under Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency.
Patharkhnang, Rwiang, Mawruksoin, Thynri, Thiepjaphlang Nongkyndang, Nongpdeng, Nongdiengkain, and Nongrathaw villages under Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency have now been included in Mawshynrut constituency.
Diskiang village under Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency will now be under Nongstoin constituency.
Finally, Malang Khasi, Malangjoypur, Sildubi, Dilbot, Aberam, Dubakdro Amagoan, Malang Salbari, Gohanimara, and Simanaguri villages under Mawshynrut constituency will now be a part of Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency.
