The event commemorated the contributions of Dr. Hiralal Chaudhuri, The Father of Induced  Breeding of the Carp and a pivotal figure in India’’ Blue Revolution.
Principal Scientist and in-charge of Fisheries, Dr. SK Das, emphasised Dr. Chaudhuri’s significant contributions to the fisheries sector, particularly his successful demonstration of induced breeding in Indian major carps on July 10, 1957.
This breakthrough, he said, has greatly enhanced fish production through aquaculture in India.

He also encouraged ongoing advancements and innovations in fish farming practices.
Around 100 tribal farmers from 24 villages benefited from the event, which was conducted under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) project of the Institute.
The inaugural function was followed by a technical session and a farmer-scientist interaction, during which farmers were motivated and encouraged in engaging in fish-farming activities.
