SHILLONG, July 12: IIM Shillong’s ‘INDAM 2024’ – Doctoral and Early Career Researchers’ Colloquium, held from July 9-11, served as a vibrant platform for doctoral and early career researchers to present their work, engage in scholarly discussions, and network with peers and experts.
Themed ‘Emerging Paradigms in Management Research’, the colloquium kicked off with a welcome address by Prof DP Goyal, Director of IIM Shillong, followed by an inspiring inaugural address by chief guest Prof Sumit K Kundu, president of Indian Academy of Management (INDAM) and Distinguished Professor of International Business at Florida International University.
Prof Basav Roychoudhury provided an overview of the colloquium, setting a scholarly tone for the three-day event.
Attendees benefited from an array of plenary sessions, round-table discussions, and workshops focused on key aspects of management research. Distinguished speakers shared their expertise in the plenary sessions. Prof Sumit Kundu offered personal reflections on navigating doctoral programs, Prof Richa Saxena from IMT Ghaziabad gave essential tips on qualitative research, and Prof Suresh Bhagavatula from IIM Bangalore discussed the importance of contextual research in entrepreneurship. Prof Mousumi Bhattacharya of IIM Shillong emphasised the societal impact of responsible research.
Workshops provided hands-on learning experiences in advanced research methodologies. Prof Abhishek Vashishth of IIM Shillong led a session on Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), Prof Sai Chittaranjan Kalubandi of IIM Bangalore conducted workshops on Meta-Analysis, and Prof Shubhabrata Basu of IIM Indore covered Mediation and Moderation Analysis. Prof Parijat Upadhyay of IIM Shillong guided participants through mixed method studies, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches.
The roundtable sessions featured presentations of 46 research papers out of 142 submissions, covering topics like Marketing Management, Finance, Operations Management, Organizational Behaviour, Human Resources Management, Strategic Management, and General Management. The event saw enthusiastic participation from scholars across India, including significant representation from Northeastern states, with 91 registrations, including 65 participants and 26 attendees.
The colloquium concluded with a valedictory address by Prof Sumit K. Kundu, who stressed the importance of innovative research in management.
