Tura, July 12: A miracle, that could have happened, was nipped in the bud after a 9-year-old from Dadenggre Subdivision survived a lightning strike only to be thwarted by nature’s fury while on his way to the hospital.
Dechangbirth M Sangma was hit by lightning but survived it. He was seriously injured. Relatives of the victim immediately rushed the minor to the Dadenggre CHC but their move was thwarted by a landslide that completely blocked their way to the hospital. “His injuries were severe and timely treatment could have saved his life but God had other plans. He succumbed to his injuries while on the way because the road was blocked by a huge landslide,” informed a local.
As the death was natural, the incident was not reported earlier. WGH police were informed only on Friday evening. A police team of Dadenggre is currently trying to verify the incident and provide more details.
