Patient shot dead inside Delhi hospital
NEW DELHI, July 14: A 32-year-old man was shot dead by a teenager inside a ward of the GTB Hospital here on Sunday, police said.The victim, Riyazuddin, had been admitted to the hospital on June 23 and was undergoing treatment for abdominal infection, according to police.There was one shooter, they added.Riyazuddin later died of the gunshot wound, police said.Police said around 4 pm, an 18-year-old man came inside the ward and fired at Riyazuddin.“Case is being registered and teams have been formed to nab the culprit. Prima facie, the matter seems to be of personal enmity,” the police said. An official from the hospital said a few people shoved the doctor entering the ward, shot the patient and fled. A nurse, who was on duty and requested anonymity, said the teenager entered the ward at 3.59 pm and asked everyone to remain calm and not raise alarm.“He took out a pistol which he had concealed behind and shot the patient and ran away,” she said.

16 years on, man held over dacoity at jewellery shop
THANE, July 14: Police have arrested a 43-year-old man from Maharashtra’s Hingoli district for his alleged involvement in a dacoity at a jewellery shop on the outskirts of Mumbai over 16 years ago, an official said on Sunday.Jonny, alias Janardhan Waghmare was part of an armed gang that had looted jewellery worth about Rs 40 lakh from a shop in Thane district in February 2008.Cops had then arrested five persons in connection with the dacoity but Waghmare remained at large, said police.Acting on several leads, they tracked him down to Hingoli and arrested him on July 12.Citing Waghmare’s interrogation, the official said he is involved in 13 cases. Three terrorists killed as army foils infiltration bid
SRINAGAR, July 14: Three unidentified terrorists were killed on Sunday as army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir.The army said the anti-infiltration operation was going on till last reports.“03x Terrorists have been eliminated in the ongoing anti-infiltration operation on the #LoC in Keran Sector, alongwith recovery of weapons and other war-like stores,” Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Army posted on X. Four children drown in well during mother’s suicide bid
MANDSAUR, (MP) July 14: Four children drowned after their mother jumped into a well with them in an attempt to commit suicide in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district on Sunday, police said.Locals managed to rescue Sugna Bai (40) from the water body but could not save her children in time, he said. The incident occurred in Pipalkheda village in Garoth. A preliminary probe has revealed that Sugna’s husband, Rodu Singh, thrashed her on Saturday evening, following which she left home with her children and took refuge at a nearby school, she said.After staying for the night, the woman jumped into the well with the children around 6 am, the official said.
