Meghalaya Chess Association celebrates Int’l Chess Day

SHILLONG, July 21: The Meghalaya Chess Association (MCA) celebrated International Chess Day on July 20at Youth Hostel, Shillong with Director of School Education & Literacy Swapnil Tembe organising the 1st Meghalaya State Senior (above 50 years) Chess Championship 2024.
The Meghalaya Chess Association also felicitated 4 Arbiters & 2 outstanding Players in International Events.
Prize Winners of the 1st Meghalaya State Senior (above 50 years) Chess Championship 2024 are as under:-
Open Category:
1st – Ardhendu Sekhar Mandal (EKHDCA)
2nd – Jefferson V Lyngdoh (EKHDCA)
3rd – Tenderly Dhar (JHDCA)
4th – Bonney J. Kharbani (WKHDCA)
5th – Paiadaohi Lhuid (JHDCA)
Above 60 years
1st – Readystar Nongsiej (JHDCA)
2nd – D. S. Shongwan (EKHDCA)
Outstanding Players award:
i. Master Ras Lal Upadhaya, 1400-1550 Classical Rating Category
ii. Master Advitiya A G, Under – 8 Classical Rating Category.
