Arsenal reportedly agree a deal for Riccardo Calafiori
Arsenal target Riccardo Calafiori has not been included in Bologna’s squad for their upcoming pre-season training camp.The Gunners have reportedly agreed a deal with Bologna for the Italian defender.As reported, the Gunners are set to pay €40m (£33.7m) plus €5m (£4.2m) in add-ons, with a sell-on clause also inserted into the deal. And the transfer appears to be edging closer to being finalised with Calafiori’s name nowhere to be seen on the squad list for Bologna’s training camp in Valles, Rio Pusteria. It is anticipated that personal terms will not be an issue as Arsenal look to secure the signing of the defender.Calafiori joined Bologna from Basel last year for just £3.4million and the Swiss club will receive 50 per cent of Bologna’s profit if he moves. Bologna and Basel need to agree the sell-on payment terms as the final step in the deal.Capable of playing at centre-back or left-back, Calafiori has five Italy caps, three of which came at Euro 2024.
Rakitic joins Hajduk Split after leaving Al-Shabab
Former Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitic is joining Hajduk Split after Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab terminated his contract by mutual consent following a six-month spell.The 36-year-old scored once in eight games after joining Al-Shabab in January 2024 as they finished eighth on 52 points.“The club management agreed with the Croatian player Ivan Rakitic to terminate the contractual relationship between the two parties by mutual consent,” the Saudi club posted on the X social media platform. Hajduk Split on Sunday announced the signing of the former Barcelona and Sevilla midfielder for one season with the option of an extra year in what will be his first campaign in Croatia.
Mohun Bagan sign Australian striker Jamie Maclaren
Defending ISL Shield champions Mohun Bagan Super Giants have successfully completed the signing of prolific Australian striker Jamie Macalren on a four-year deal. The 30-year old is the all-time leading scorer of the A-league, Australia’s first division with 154 goals to his name.Maclaren is regarded as one of the best Austalian strikers in the game and was a regular part of the national team with his latest appearance coming in the 2026 FIFA WC Qualifiers. He was also a part of the Australian squad that lost to Argentina in the Round of 16 in the 2022 FIFA WC Qualifier, Maclaren made an appearance in the game off the bench.Macalren’s addition to the squad makes him the fourth Aussie player in the Mohun Bagan squad further bolstering the chemistry of the team. The striker will be registered outside the salary cap alongside Apuia and is reported to have been offered a deal which would make him one of the highest paid players in the league.
USA’s Caleb Wiley completes Chelsea transfer
The left-back joins the Blues from MLS side Atlanta United and has signed a six-year contract, with a club option for a further year, at Stamford Bridge.Wiley joined Atlanta’s academy at 11 years old. He progressed through the club’s youth set-up and spent the 2020 and 2021 campaigns representing Atlanta United 2 in the USL Championship.The 19-year-old made the step up to Atlanta’s first team ahead of the 2022 season and enjoyed a memorable debut as he netted in a 3-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City. He would feature on 25 further occasions during his maiden campaign. Having established himself at senior level, Wiley was afforded 36 appearances during the 2023 season and made his USMNT debut in October 2023 in a 1-1 draw against Mexico.He has again been a regular for Atlanta this term, with 23 appearances made across all competitions. He is currently with the USA men’s team to compete for the Paris Olympics 2024.
