SHILLONG, July 24: State BJP vice president and Tura MDC Bernard Marak on Wednesday accused MLAs of misappropriating central schemes by claiming them as party’s and MLA initiatives while distributing them to the public.
In a meeting with the Minister in-charge of Animal Husbandry, Al Hek, in Shillong, Marak discussed the poultry and piggery missions.
“These projects were sanctioned by the Centre and intended to benefit many villagers. However, upon inquiry at the veterinary office, we found that all the forms were taken by the MLAs in Garo Hills, who were distributing them as if they were MLA or party schemes,” he said.
Marak stated that they sought clarity on the matter, adding, “The Minister was unaware of the situation in Garo Hills. We briefed him, and he assured us that eligible beneficiaries will receive full support from the government.”
Marak also suggested that similar issues might be occurring in parts of the Khasi-Jaintia Hills concerning the piggery and poultry missions.
