SHILLONG, July 24: The Chairman of the Meghalaya State Planning Board, Metbah Lyngdoh on Wednesday said the board is the heads of various departments to frequently review the steps initiated to manage the traffic congestion in the state. “All of us are experiencing the traffic snarls. We have to work toward a solution,” he said.
“In the last meeting, we called the officials of the PWD, police, and other departments for a presentation on decongesting the city,” he said.
Lyngdoh said some developments in the city would be fast-tracked to ensure the people do not suffer from the congestion for long.
He regretted that people are losing lives apart from suffering due to traffic jams.
“The situation will be reviewed again soon,” he said.
Measures undertaken to ease Shillong’s traffic problem, including manpower strengthening, have not worked.
