Shillong, July 26: The second round of the Meghalaya Youth League 2024 will take place tomorrow, bringing the innovative new competition to new venues.
After the successful start last Saturday, the action will visit Resubelpara (Resubelpara Mini Stadium), Jowai (Kiang Nangbah Stadium), Saipung (SBSA Football Ground), Pynursla (UUP Football Stadium), Tyrsad (Mawlum Tyrsad Playground) and Riangdo (Riangdo Playground) this weekend for the first time, with other venues being used for a second time.
The inaugural edition of the statewide U-14 and U-16 boys’ event, organised by the Meghalaya Football Association with the support of the Government of Meghalaya, is held on a home-and-away basis between affiliated district associations, 20 of which are taking part in the maiden edition.
The idea behind this is to use this tournament as a platform to select the youth teams that go on to represent Meghalaya at the national level.
It will also present the young footballers with a stepping stone to club-level senior football and give Meghalaya one of the strongest football structures in the country.
With the second round set to kick off, anticipation among fans and players is high as the Meghalaya Youth League 2024 continues to create opportunities and inspire for young footballers across the state.
