JOWAI, July 27: Responding to complaints from locals about the deterioration of the newly constructed Pdengshakap-Muktapur Road, the Jaintia National Council (JNC), Western Zone, led by President Leo Ferdinand Dhar and Organising Secretary Rapmiki Pohti, inspected the area on Saturday.
During the inspection, Pohti acknowledged the initial joy and relief the new road brought for easier travel, trade, and emergencies. However, he expressed concern that the lack of side drains would compromise the road’s longevity.
Dhar, on the other hand, assured that the JNC would not hesitate to follow up with the appropriate authorities to ensure necessary action is taken.
It is pertinent to note that despite the recent completion of the road in question, it has deteriorated significantly in just a few months, leading to suspicions that the contractor prioritised personal gain over the well-being of the local community.
