SPC elects members to remaining posts of new EC

SHILLONG, July 27: The Shillong Press Club (SPC) completed the election for the remaining posts of the new Executive Committee (EC) on Saturday. Out of 194 members, 144 cast their votes.
The vice president position saw a tight race between Bhabok Laloo of Peitngor Cable News (PCN) and senior journalist Evanjoplin Dkhar, with the former winning by a slim margin of eight votes.
On the other hand, Samuel Lyngdoh from Shillong Mail was elected as the new assistant general secretary, defeating veteran sports journalist Apporlet Shabong by 26 votes.
Additionally, four new Executive Members (EMs) were elected, namely, Ibankyntiew Mawrie, Editor at 4front; Wesley Lyngdoh, senior reporter at Nongsain Hima; Jeogee C. Jarain, senior cameraman at Batesi TV; and James Lyngdoh Nonglait, senior sports reporter at Peitngor.
Earlier, the SPC had elected Mawphor Editor Deimaia Siangshai as president, T7 news producer Savio Diengdoh as general secretary, and Peitngor Editor Gershome Hat as treasurer.
