Kashmir records highest July temperature in 25 years
Srinagar, July 28: Kashmir has been reeling under intense heat wave with several places in the valley recording their highest July temperature in 25 years on Sunday. According to the meteorological office here, Srinagar city recorded a high of 36.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday. This was hottest July day since July 9, 1999 when the mercury had settled at 37 degrees Celsius. The hottest July day in Srinagar was recorded on July 10, 1946 with mercury rising to 38.3 degrees Celsius. The Met has forecast spell of rain at isolated places of Kashmir valley over the years next 24 hours, which is expected to bring down the mercury. (PTI)
Video shows drunk teacher at MP school; probe ordered
SHAHDOL, July 28: A video of a teacher coming to work in an inebriated state at a government school in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol district surfaced on social media, prompting the authorities to order a probe, an official said on Sunday. The purported video shot by villagers on Saturday showed a teacher, allegedly drunk, at a government primary school in Shankargarh village in Beohari block. Talking to PTI, district education officer (DEO) Phool Singh Marapachi said he received the video of the teacher, Udaybhan Singh Nat, on social media. Block education officer (BEO) HL Pendro has been directed to probe the incident, he said. The official said that action would be taken against the teacher after the probe report arrives on Monday. NTA declares results of CUET-UG
New Delhi, July 28: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday announced the results for the CUET-UG, paving the way to begin the undergraduate admission process which has been delayed this year. The NTA had on July 7 released the provisional answer keys of the CUET-UG 2024. A retest for more than 1,000 candidates whose grievances were found genuine by the agency was conducted on July 19. The delay in the CUET-UG results came amid a row over alleged irregularities in competitive exams, including in the NEET-UG and the UGC-NET. The CUET-UG conducted in a hybrid mode for the first time across the country was cancelled in Delhi a night before the scheduled exam day over “logistical reasons”. The exam was held in the national capital later. (PTI)
