Tura, July 29: A resident of Krishnai in Goalpara in Assam, was in for a rude shock when his private car (AS 18J 2927) was first smashed by miscreants before some other commercial vehicle owners confronted him over parking near the Kabul Bazaar area in Tura, Monday morning.
The resident, identified as Lohit Nath, is a contractor under PWD and was in Tura on Sunday for some work-related activities. He had parked his vehicle at the parking area of Kabul Bazaar for the night and spent the night at an elder sister’s house. However early this morning, while he was about to start his vehicle, Nath alleged that 3-4 miscreants, who he could not identify, smashed the windshield of his car besides damaging the handles. After the damage was caused, Nath rushed to the Tura PS early morning to report the incident.
However as per the victim, the police were reluctant to take up the case blaming it on nut cases for what happened. They even asked him to provide CCTV footage of the incident so that the case could be registered.
Upon the refusal of the police, Nath returned back to his vehicle but another shock awaited him.  He was allegedly accosted by at least 3-4 commercial drivers who got out of their vehicles to threaten him not to park his vehicle in the place he did.
The case of Nath came to be known after he narrated his experience to local TV channels in Assam. When contacted, he informed of what took place while requesting that the governments of both states should work on the lines of peace and not confrontation.
Meanwhile SP, Abraham Sangma upon being informed of the incident immediately sought a report. He added that an ASP had been handed the investigation into the case and assured that action will be taken.
The victim later confirmed that WGH police had indeed contacted him and assured action. A case is currently being registered.
