Non-teaching SSA staff begin indefinite sit-in protest

Shillong, July 31: Around 600 non-teaching SSA under the banner All Meghalaya SSA Non Teaching Staffs Association began their indefinite sit-in protest on Wednesday at the Madan Malki ground demanding 80 percent salary enhancement, plus 2 percent increment based on seniority, and 5 percent yearly increment.

The non-teaching staff include those working right from the cluster level, block level, district level and state level under the office of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), State Education Mission Authority of Meghalaya.

Jennifer Synrem, President of the association, said, “We demand for equal pay for equal work. We have decided to stage this indefinite sit-in-demonstration to demand the state government to consider enhancing our salary plus two percent increment based on seniority and five percent annual increment.”
