Traffic regulation for Durand Cup ceremony in city

SHILLONG, July 30: Temporary traffic regulations will be enforced during the opening ceremony of the Durand Cup 2024 to be held at J.N. Stadium Complex on August 2. The restrictions will be in effect from 1 pm until the event concludes.
In a notice, the office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, declared that entry will not be allowed from Lumjingshai junction towards CRPF junction in Polo. Further, there will be no entry from Lumjingshai junction towards Forest Colony. Vehicles will instead be diverted towards Lawmali – Polo Market left turn and beyond, the notice said.
Additionally, parking will be prohibited around the Polo agglomeration from 11 am until the event is over; vehicles will not be allowed to park on the roadside from Golf Club up to CRPF junction; the movement of loaded heavy vehicles around the Polo agglomeration will be strictly prohibited on August 2, the notice read.
The public have been advised to use carpooling or shared taxis instead of private vehicles for traveling to the event.
Vehicles with passes and emergency services will, however, be facilitated during the event.
