NONGPOH, Aug 2: The Ri-Bhoi District Magistrate has prohibited carrying or transportation of boulders above the visible existing height of the carriers.
According to the order, the boulder should be restricted well inside the carriers of the vehicles and should not be beyond visibility.
The order, which comes into immediate effect in the district, has been issued in view of trucks/dumpers carrying overloaded and uncovered boulders beyond the existing height of the carriers, not only posing a severe threat to nearby vehicles and pedestrians but also damaging the road infrastructure.
According to the order, violators of the order have been warned against legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
