Dy CM listens to grievances of villagers in Khanduli

JOWAI, Aug 5: Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Saturday visited Khanduli village in West Jaintia Hills to listen to the grievances of the people. In a meeting with the leaders of the village, many issues were discussed including overall development in the village.
Deputy Chief Minister Dhar also inspected the Khanduli Secondary School which was established and run by the Dorbar Shnong Khanduli in the presence of teachers, school managing committee (SMC) members and leaders.
A local body called ‘The Fate of the Khanduli Dorbar Shnong’ was also inaugurated on the day, with the objective of raising special funds for Khanduli Secondary School which was upgraded to a secondary school in the year 2015.
The meeting was chaired by Assistant Headman of Khanduli K Bina.
The welcome speech was delivered by KS Langshiang and the keynote address was delivered by Headman of Khanduli Yoshida Nongspung.
Deputy CM Dhar, in his speech, congratulated the elders of Khanduli and their vision to establish the school. He urged all the residents to support the leaders and management of the school and exhorted the students to aspire for greatness.
Dhar also promised to financially support the school with Rs 5 lakh.
Others who spoke included Dolloi of Elaka Nongjngi, C Daw, besides Lieh Sungoh from Mynsngat village and Headman of Sohphoh Mutshwa Thabah.
They discussed the problems faced by the school which ranged from the building, footpath to the salaries of the teachers.
Through a memorandum read out by the teachers of the school, it was informed that the salary of the teachers has reached Rs 4.44 lakh per annum.
