ICAR-KVK hosts crop varieties release prog

SHILLONG, Aug 11: The ICAR-KVK, West Garo Hills, introduced 109 new crop varieties to local farmers during a crop varieties release programme at its campus on Sunday. The event, attended by 45 farmers and KVK staff, featured special lectures on central government schemes and strategies to boost farm productivity.
Keynote speakers included Dr Monica Suresh Singh, who detailed the 109 released varieties, and Dr Tarun K Das, who discussed the PM-KUSUM programme.
The event emphasised the importance of animal husbandry, natural farming, and agricultural diversification as strategies to increase farmers’ income and address climate change.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ramawavatar Yadav.
