SHILLONG, Aug 16: The one-man inquiry commission of Justice (retired) BP Katakey has filed the 23rd and 24th interim reports before the High Court of Meghalaya into the matter pertaining to illegal coal mining in the state.
It was drawn to the attention of the court that some coal is still lying in East Jaintia Hills which has not been taken to the depot.
Advocate General, Amit Kumar submitted that some coal may be lying there to be disposed of by the concerned Judicial Magistrate which has been seized under Section 21 of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.
“In order to enable the respondents to file their comments on the 23rd interim report and also photographs of the place where the coal is lying, call the matter on 12.09.2024,” the court said during the hearing on Friday.
