SHILLONG, Aug 21: A delegation of leaders and villagers from Mawsynram on Wednesday apprised the state government about the poor condition of roads in the strategically located constituency.
The villagers met Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong urging him to immediately take up the restoration work for Welloi Balat road.
Local MDC Alvin Khyriem Sawkmie said that the road has not been repaired for the last 40-50 years, adding that it has compounded villagers’ sufferings.
In the meeting, Tynsong assured that the work will be taken up and the detailed project report is being worked out.
Former local MLA HM Shangpliang, local leaders and pressure groups were also part of the delegation.
