Shillong, Aug 22: In a dazzling display of skill, Chanjib Chetry netted four goals to lead Meghalaya to a commanding 7-0 victory over the International Schools Sports Organisation (ISSO) in their Group B match of the U-15 boys’ Subroto Cup 2024, held in Bangalore on Thursday.
Chetry’s outstanding performance further solidifies his position as a key player in the tournament, bringing his total goal tally to seven after his hat-trick against Sri Lanka earlier this week.
His prolific scoring was complemented by contributions from teammates Shanbok Basaiawmoit, Iaisynrop Syiemlieh, and Banteilang Malieh, each adding to the impressive goal count.Representing Meghalaya in the tournament is Nongjri Presbyterian Secondary School from Ri-Bhoi, the recent champions of the state-level Subroto Cup. The school’s victory in the state tournament has clearly translated into strong performances on the national stage.Meghalaya will be looking to continue their winning streak in their next match, scheduled for tomorrow at 10:30 AM, where they will face off against Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu.
