Meghalaya Youth League heats up at midway mark

Shillong, Aug 23: Around half of the league matches in the Meghalaya Youth League 2024, the inaugural edition of the statewide U-14 and U-16 football tournament, have taken place already, with the lure of the quarterfinals getting ever closer.
Thirteen matches will be held around the state in Round 6 on Saturday.Zone A will witness the last of the U-14 boys’ matches as this pool has just three participating teams.
North Garo Hills District Sports Association and Tura District Football Association have 7 and 6 points respectively and will meet to decide who bags top spot.
Zone B leaders West Jaintia District Sports Association will not be in action on Saturday but the other teams trying to catch up with them will be – including a straight fight between Amlarem Block Sports Association and Laskein Block Sports Association, who are second and third respectively in the U-14 category.
There will be just one game in Zone C, between Riwar Mihngi Football Association and Western Ri-Bhoi Sports Association in the U-16 division. A win for the latter would move them to provisional second place.
Zone D will see all six teams involved across both age categories. Nongstoin District Sports Association lead in both and will want to keep it that way for another week.
