SHILLONG, Aug 23: Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker, Thomas Sangma, has expressed his happiness with the progress of the construction of the new Assembly building at New Shillong Township.
Sangma stated that past experiences have taught valuable lessons, and he is keen to avoid rushing the civil works.
Noting that he is conducting personal inspections of the site, he said, “Last time, there was not enough manpower, but now I have been informed that more workers are on site, and the work is progressing at full speed.”
He also highlighted the need for adequate curing time for the massive concrete structures, reinforcing his decision not to hasten the project.
The Speaker further informed that the civil work for the project is expected to be completed within this year, after which the remaining construction phases will begin.
