SHILLONG, Aug 23: The Opposition TMC on Friday took the government to the cleaners on the allegations of manipulation and nepotism in the MPSC recruitment process and asked the ruling party to come clean on the plethora of allegations which has created doubt in the minds of job seekers regarding the integrity of the recruitment process.
Coming down heavily on the government’s utter failure to sort out the recruitment mess, TMC leader Mukul Sangma said, “The result of the recently concluded parliamentary elections is a proof of that. The outcome against the NPP is due to factors which revolve around the anger built up over the years and this does not augur well since it challenges the core value of democracy.”
He reminded how frustration amongst the youth had led to chaos and lawlessness in the past, Sangma said, “There is a need for the government to instil confidence and trust amongst job seekers. If you ask any job seeker if they trust the system then you will know the reality.”
Referring to the recent MPSC fiasco, he questioned under which law the MPSC reviewed the results and awarded additional marks to certain candidates.
“This is a mockery of the system and questions the integrity of the whole recruitment process,” he added.
He said people are losing their trust and confidence in the recruitment process by a constitutional body which is supposed to demonstrate impeccable integrity but is failing short of its duties.
Referring to another instance of the District Selection Committee (DSC) results in East Garo Hills, he said, “I was told by some job seekers that three members a one family were selected. There is a need to dig deeper into the recruitment process and take it to its logical conclusion, whether it is the MPSC or the DSC.”
“We cannot afford to have a situation where our younger generation starts losing confidence in the system. It is dangerous and, therefore, the government must come clean on the recruitment process,” he added.
