TURA, Aug 25: Temporary non-teaching staff at NEHU, Tura Campus have resented the failure of authorities to act on their demand despite an agreement having been signed by it with the All NEHU Workers Union last year, where it was assured that workers would be paid in accordance with the principle laid down in the Government-of-India notification.
“This fight has been going on for the past 6 years but the NEHU administration is continuously ignoring our legitimate demand. Recently, NEHU authorities have signed a Memorandum of Settlement with All NEHU Workers Union in the office of Regional Labour Commissioner (Central), Guwahati on 29th May 2023. The settlement clearly states that workers will be paid in accordance with the principle laid down in the Government of India’s notification,” president of the NEHU Tura Campus Staff Welfare Association, TG Momin said.
According to Momin, despite the lapse of 15 months NEHU failed to honour its commitment towards the settlement. As per Momin, 3 show cause notices have also been issued to the NEHU authorities by the RLC (Central) Guwahati, for non-implementation of the settlement.
