SHILLONG, Aug 27: Road safety norms have been issued for school buses and three-wheelers operated by schools in the state.
This move is in pursuance of the directives issued by the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety (SCCORS) to enhance the safety of students commuting to and from schools.
As per the order issued by the Directorate of Schools Education & Literacy (DSEL), Meghalaya, all school buses and three-wheelers must prominently display their carrying capacity both inside and outside the vehicle.
This measure aims to prevent overloading and ensure that schools do not exceed the authorised passenger limit.
