NIT Meghalaya celebrates National Space Day
SHILLONG, Aug 29: The NIT Meghalaya recently joined the rest of the India to celebrate the National Space Day, marking the success of India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission. The event, which was held on August 23, was inaugurated by NIT Meghalaya Director Prof. Pinakeshwar Mahanta.In his address, Prof. Mahanta highlighted the significance of space exploration and the pivotal role of academia in advancing scientific progress. As part of the celebrations, NIT Meghalaya hosted a one-day workshop during which informed the gathering about the significance of National Space Day. They also informed the gathering about the scientific and technological advances in space research, application of technology for sustainable development particularly in the space sector, et al.

Football match garners funds for rehabilitation centre in SWKH
MAWKYRWAT, Aug 29: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) South West Khasi Hills organised a charitable football match on Wednesday to raise funds for the construction of a Rehabilitation Centre at Sohkhyllam village, run by Life Care Foundation. The matches featured teams SWKHD FC Vs Rangdajied FC and Officers Club Vs KSU office-bearers. KSU president Lambokstar Marngar, the chief guest, expressed concern over the growing drug issue in the state, noting that over 3 lakh individuals are now affected. He emphasised the need for collective action to combat this threat and urged cooperation in supporting the rehabilitation centre’s construction to help those in need.

Students benefit from workshop on Mathematics Olympiad
SHILLONG, Aug 29: As many as 87 students of all the feeder schools of Ramakrishna Mission participated in a five-day workshop on Mathematics Olympiad, which culminated on August 25. Organised recently by the RKM, the workshop was attended by New Delhi-based Mathematics Olympiad trainer, Alok Kumar, as the resource person. During the course of the event, students learnt new ways of solving tricky and competitive Mathematical problems. The students were also motivated to prepare for Mathematics Olympiad by Guwahati-based Ananda Bhaduri, who was recently awarded gold medal in the International Mathematics Olympiad.

A plantation drive is under way, organised by the
ICAR-KVK, West Garo Hills, as part of Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, on Thursday. During the plantation drive, mango saplings were planted by KVK experts
from the district at the institute campus.
