Shillong Western Bypass construction likely to begin this month

SHILLONG, Aug 31: The construction of the two-lane Shillong Western Bypass Road is expected to commence in September, following the end of the monsoon season.
It may be mentioned that the land acquisition for the project is nearly complete, with 96.33 per cent of the required land acquired in East Khasi Hills and 94.50 per cent in Ri-Bhoi district.
Similarly, the disbursement of compensation has also been substantial, with Rs 479.46 crore disbursed in East Khasi Hills and Rs 112.56 crore in Ri-Bhoi, totaling Rs 592.03 crore.
The project is anticipated to be completed within two years from the start of construction.
