SHILLONG, Sep 2: The Cherry Blossom Festival 2024 is set to make a grand return with an exciting line-up and a special international partnership, promising to be a significant cultural event.
Organised by Meghalaya Tourism in collaboration with Rockski EMG, the festival has grown in prominence, attracting visitors from across India and beyond.
This year’s festival will feature a unique collaboration with TRTL Tokyo, making Japan the official country partner. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a dedicated zone showcasing Japan’s rich and diverse culture, adding an international flavour to the event.
The theme for this year’s festival is ‘The Year of Legends’, with a diverse line-up of iconic music artists spanning genres such as rock, pop, RnB, Bollywood indie, Bollywood pop, Nu Metal and K-Pop.
The festival organisers have ensured there is something for every music lover.
The most anticipated part of the festival is the performance by a former global pop icon, headlining exclusively at the Cherry Blossom Festival as part of a 10-city Asia tour, with stops in Nepal, India, Thailand and the Philippines.
While the artist’s name has not been disclosed, further details are expected to be revealed later this week.
Among the festival highlights will be an exclusive performance by Boney M., featuring founding member Maizie Williams, as part of their Farewell Tour.
EDM fans can look forward to a set by R3HAB, one of the world’s top DJs, currently ranked 14th globally.
Bollywood music enthusiasts, too, will enjoy performances by popular artists Kanika Kapoor and Jasleen Royal, who will bring their chart-topping hits to the festival.
Meanwhile, rock fans will also have something to look forward to with performances by top tribute artists, Queen Sensation from Russia and KORN SK from Slovakia, who will deliver electrifying shows in honour of rock legends.
Adding to the excitement, the festival will mark the return of The Great Society, a legendary local band reuniting after 35 years.
K-Pop fans can also expect a major announcement, with organisers hinting at the participation of a top K-Pop artist, details of which are pending finalisation.
