Conrad unveils master plan for redevelopment of Barik point

Shillong, Sept 3: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday hoisted the high mast National flag and unveiled the master plan for redevelopment of Barik project at PWD complex in Barik.

The height of the pole is 40 meters in length and apart from the national flag, the complex will also house pedestrian plaza, open ground, stepped plaza, pedestrian entry from Civil hospital area, taxi terminal and parking, drop-off court, restaurant with kids play, workshop area, vehicular entry exit.

Sangam informed that the project cost is Rs 25 crores and the work will begin in October or early November. He stressed this complex will be a symbol of unity for not the State but for the country. He also clarified that while there are heritage buildings within the complex care will be taken to restore them and make used of without damaging or breaking them down.

He also said that there is a need to rename the location with some name that signifies unity of the different culture and tribes of the State and also the nation.
