Shillong pvt hospitals to resume MHIS service with immediate effect

Shillong, Sep 3: The private hospitals in Shillong on Tuesday have collectively decided to resume the MHIS services with immediate effect.

The decision was taken during the meeting held at Nazareth Hospital which was attended by the management of all the private hospitals.

A representative of one of the city hospitals told The Shillong Times that the decision was arrived upon as there are many patients especially those coming from BPL families who have been affected.

He informed that the surgeries of many patients which was schedule on Monday and today had to be postponed after they decided to discontinue the MHIS from September 1.
He said that the patients who are doing dialysis has also been affected.

“We are concern about the welfare of the patients as there were huge hue and cry since many are dependent on the MHIS for their treatment,” he informed.

The representative of one of the city hospital informed that they have also decided to write joint letter again today evening to the government about the same with an ultimatum to address their problems within a stipulated time frame.

Replying to a query, he said that this is resumption of the Phase VI which had concluded on August 31.

He further informed that the question of signing of a fresh MOU for the Phase VII does not arise at this point since the issues which are at hand needs to be first resolved.
According to him, the government will need to first clear the dues which are pending right from Phase IV.
