Meghalaya’s Myngken Christian HSS confirms quarters spot

Shillong, Sep 4: Myngken Christian Higher Secondary School, Meghalaya, T.G English School, Bishnupur, Manipur and Govt. Secondary School, Monigong, Arunachal Pradesh confirmed their spots in the quarterfinals of the 63rd Subroto Cup Junior Boys International Football Tournament which is being played here in New Delhi and NCR.
Myngken Christian Higher Secondary School topped Group F with three wins from three matches to book their spot in the knockouts. In the last group match, the school from Meghalaya comfortably beat Kejariwal +2 Higher Secondary Vidyalaya, Bihar 5-0. They had stunned defending champions Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37-B, Chandigarh yesterday and as a result knocking them out of the tournament. The Chandigarh school completed their campaign with a massive 27-0 victory over St. Francis Xavier High School, Daman & Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli.
In in a winner takes all match of Group G, Govt. Secondary School, Arunachal Pradesh and Father Agnel Multipurpose High School, Goa played out a 1-1 draw and the team from Arunachal advanced to the knockouts securing seven points from three matches while the Goan team finished with five points.
