Shillong, Sep 5: In an exciting development for local sports, the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs is set to organise the city’s first-ever Inter-Office Futsal Tournament, bringing together 16 teams from various offices in a spirited competition.
This five-day event, which will run from the 10th to the 14th of September 2024, promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent, teamwork, and office camaraderie. The tournament will be held at the Thrive Sports Arena, located in Langkyrding, Shillong, a venue that has become a popular destination for futsal enthusiasts.
The 16 participating teams, representing various government and private offices across Shillong, will battle it out in fast-paced matches, with only one team emerging victorious as the ultimate champion. As futsal is known for its intense, high-speed action in a smaller, enclosed court, fans can expect plenty of goals, slick footwork, and close contests.
The tournament aims not only to promote sportsmanship and a healthy lifestyle but also to foster a sense of unity among office workers, providing them with a platform to engage in friendly competition outside the workplace. The teams will compete in a knockout format, with each match lasting 40 minutes, divided into two halves. As the stakes get higher, the pressure to perform will increase, ensuring an exciting atmosphere throughout the event.
The Thrive Sports Arena, known for its top-notch facilities, has been fully equipped to host the tournament, ensuring that the participants have the best possible conditions to compete.
The state-of-the-art futsal pitch, spectator stands, and additional amenities have all been prepared to create an enjoyable experience for fans and players alike.
With Shillong’s growing interest in futsal and football in general, the tournament is expected to draw large crowds, particularly during the semi-finals and final, where the competition will reach its peak.
