Bike-borne gunmen shoot BJP member
Patna, Sep 9: Bike-borne assailants gunned down a BJP member outside a restaurant in the Bihar capital Patna in the early hours of Monday, police said. The deceased was identified as Munna Sharma who was associated with the BJP for years. “Munna Sharma was shot at by three unidentified bike-borne armed assailants outside a restaurant when he was waiting for an autorickshaw. The armed men fled the spot after the shooting,” Patna Rural Superintendent of Police Raushan Kumar told reporters. (PTI)

Murmu urged to bring back woman facing death sentence in UAE
Banda, Sep 4: Samajwadi Party workers on Monday handed over to the Banda district magistrate a memorandum addressed to President Droupadi Murmu, urging her to bring back a local resident who may be hanged in the UAE any time after September 20. The 29-year-old woman has been in Abu Dhabi jail for a long time for the murder of a four-month-old child. Earlier, last week Shahzadi’s father Shabbir here appealed to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to save his daughter’s life. (PTI)

Girl ‘trafficked’ to Lucknow, raped by truck driver
Ranchi, Sep 9: A 13-year-old girl from Ranchi was allegedly trafficked to Lucknow on a truck and on the way, she was “raped” by its driver multiple times before being left on a roadside, police said on Monday. Two persons were arrested after a case was lodged at the Tamar police station in Ranchi on Sunday, they said. The girl’s family said she did not return from school on August 16, following which they lodged a missing person’s complaint. The girl told the investigators that she was taken to the Bundu bus stand on August 16 by a youth she knew and later she was taken to Patna by another youth who was also known to her. (PTI)

Woman kills mother-in-law over property dispute
Nagpur, Sep 9: A 33-year-old woman and her two relatives were arrested on Monday for allegedly murdering her mother-in-law over a property dispute in Maharashtra’s Nagpur city, police said on Monday. The accused woman allegedly paid her two male cousins to carry out the murder, and the 54-year-old victim was strangled on August 28, an official from Ajini police station said. The accused made it appear like the victim had died of a heart attack, and the murder came to light ten days after the last rites, he said. (PTI)
