Govt seeks central funds for veterinary college, hospital

SHILLONG, Sep 10: The state government has sent a proposal to the Centre seeking funds for establishment of a veterinary college and a veterinary hospital.
Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Minister Alexander Laloo Hek on Tuesday said the state is awaiting a positive response from the central government.
Talking about the location of the two institutes, Hek said department has land in Kyrdemkulai in Ri-Bhoi for setting up the veterinary college and in Upper Shillong for the hospital.
“We have more than 800 acres of land and if they require 100-200 acres we have no problem,” he said.
Asked about the intake capacity and the estimated cost of the projects, he said he does not have any information since the detailed project reports are yet to be prepared.
