Police official suspended for misconduct

SHILLONG, Sep 10: Sub-Inspector R Marwein from Laban police station was suspended for misconduct over an incident involving a woman complainant.
A woman had arrived at the police station to report an assault by a taxi driver. Marwein, who was on duty and was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, got into a quarrel with her.
The women police station promptly intervened and assisted the victim and also registered a case based on her complaint.
The Laban Sector Police Officer conducted an inquiry which led to departmental action against the officer.
