Meghalaya woman bags Champion Farmer award

Shillong, Sep 12: In a moment of great pride for Meghalaya, Angela Shangnoi, a dedicated farmer from Mawkynbat village under West Khasi Hills, has been conferred the prestigious Champion Woman Farmer Change Makers Award by the Outlook Group at the NASC Complex in New Delhi.
Shangnoi receive the award from Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, at a grand ceremony attended by dignitaries and experts.
This esteemed recognition is a testament to her outstanding contributions in the field of agriculture and allied activities. This award which acknowledges the farmers’ hard work, resilience, and innovative spirit, which have positively impacted their communities and the nation as a whole, is a prestigious recognition of outstanding women farmers who have made significant contributions to the agricultural sector.
Shangnoi has been working tirelessly with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), West Khasi Hills, for over a decade, implementing innovative farming practices and inspiring her community with her dedication and expertise.
Her exemplary work has been recognized and promoted by the ICAR-ATARI Umiam and KVK, West Khasi Hills, leading to her selection for this prestigious award.
This achievement is all the more remarkable since he is the only farmer from Meghalaya and one of only three from the Northeast region under ZONE VII ICAR-ATARI Umiam.
Shangnoi’s journey is a shining example of the impact that dedicated individuals can have on their communities.
Her commitment and cooperation with KVK, West Khasi Hills, has not only transformed her own farming practices but has also empowered numerous other farmers in the region.
